The
Post Hospital was built in 1894 with it’s stone
foundation, brick walls and slate roof. Originally 11,440 square feet
in size,
it was lighted by mineral oil, had hot water heat, and was coal fired.
The
original
design had 9 water closets, 13 wash basins and two urinals for
it’s plumbing.
The cost to build the hospital in 1894 was $55,052.59. The old Post
Hospital is
now home to the Green Mountain Nursing Home.
